SOS hOME Doctors was established in Beirut, Lebanon in 1984 by Dr. Riad Khalifeh, who currently serves as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the company, and in Amman, Jordan in 2013 by Mr. Ziad Khalifeh – CEO and General Manager of SOS hOME Doctors.
The company was first established in 1984 by Dr. Riad Khalifeh with an aim to contribute to his torn up country and help his disoriented compatriots.
He returned from France with a degree in public health and an experience acquired as one of the doctors at “SOS Doctors of France" with initiative to start a similar project, though customized, in Lebanon.
Many doctors volunteered to be part of this new project, despite the difficult work conditions at the time. Back then, moving around Beirut was not safe, considering that in addition to the ongoing bombings, there was the risk of snipers, explosions, aggressions and theft of vehicles and equipment. However, the will of SOS Home Doctors was stronger than these adversities and the company was able to launch its operations.
Some of the doctors on call were wounded and many others exposed to various threats, but the doctors persevered and the ill were tended to day and night, without any interruptions. SOS Home Doctors were called to deal with medical emergencies as well as wounded citizens on the street after bombings. The company delivered drinking water tanks and even provided assistance in case of fire. As a result, SOS Home Doctors was able to establish partnerships with the Lebanese Red Cross, the Civil Defense, the Fire Department and Police in order to instate a comprehensive aid platform and avoid turning down any call for help.
Since the end of the civil war in 1990, SOS Home Doctors of Lebanon started expanding its operations. Following its success in Lebanon,the company has expanded its activities regionally and established offices in Amman, Jordan in October 2013.

Ziad Khalifeh received the award during a ceremony held at Casino du Liban.
